Trip Planning and Logistics

  • We have two conveniently located PacWesty adventure hubs. Our Bainbridge Island hub is just a scenic ferry ride away from Seattle and serves as the perfect gateway to the wonders of the Olympic Peninsula and beyond.

    Our Southern California hub is nestled in the heart of Palm Springs right off of HWY I-10, offering easy access to iconic desert destinations like Joshua Tree, the golden California coast, and the greater southwest.

  • If you’re coming from SeaTac Airport (SEA), you can take the Link light rail from Seatac Airport to the Pioneer Square Station and then walk to the Washington State Ferry terminal on the Seattle waterfront (Pier 52). You can also Uber or Taxi from the airport directly to the Seattle ferry terminal, which takes about 25 minutes.

    The ferry leaves Seattle every 50 minutes or so and takes about 35 minutes to get to Bainbridge Island. Be sure to check the ferry schedule for the latest departure/arrival times. We offer free pick-up from the Bainbridge ferry terminal to our office, but please be sure to let your Adventure Coordinator know if you need to get picked up from the terminal.

  • Check out is at 12 pm on the first scheduled day of your trip, and the van is due to be checked back in between 9 am and 12 pm on the last scheduled day of your trip.

  • We can accommodate check-outs as early as 9 am for an additional fee of 25% of the daily rental rate for your van. We can also accommodate a late check in up to 4 pm for an additional fee of 25% of the daily rental rate for your van. If you return later than 4 pm on the final day of your reservation, you will be charged the full rental rate for an additional day.

  • Our knowledgeable Adventure Coordinators are experts in the areas we serve, they can provide you with suggestions and work with you to create an outline that fits your specific travel objectives. This local touch ensures that your journey goes beyond the tourist spots, introducing you to hidden gems and community-driven experiences that showcase the true essence of each destination. We entrust the camping and activity reservations to your care, allowing you the flexibility to shape every moment of your unique adventure.   • Conducting comprehensive campground research is recommended, and some locations may offer advance reservations. While numerous campgrounds are on a first-come, first-served basis, arriving early is advisable, especially during peak seasons. Explore Hipcamp for privately owned campsites that can be booked in advance. Note that certain locations may lack cell service for online reservations upon arrival.

  • We ask that our renters purchase rental insurance through our listing platform, Outdoorsy. There are a couple of options to choose from and we’d be delighted to help you decide what you need. Outdoorsy coverage has a standard deductible of $1,000. We apply no mark-up to this service.

  • Although our vintage vans are meticulously maintained and undergo rigorous inspections, there is always a possibility of a mechanical issue. In such cases, we are available at most hours to assist you in troubleshooting immediately. Additionally, when you rent a van, you'll receive contact information for our 24/7 support hotline. Rest assured, most problems can be addressed in real-time without disrupting your trip.

  • Absolutely! However, do keep an eye on the allotted mileage limits. It's important to note that our vehicles can't cross into Mexico, so let's ensure your out-of-state travel aligns with your plans by discussing it with your Adventure Coordinator.

  • Every van is sent out with a full gas tank, and we kindly request that you return the van with a full tank. In the event you forget or run short on time, don't fret! We can refill the tank and charge the associated fee to your account.

  • For your convenience, we can pick up and/or drop off vans on a case-by-case basis for an additional fee. Please inquire about this option early and we'll do our best to accommodate your needs.

  • We can accommodate pick-ups or drop-offs at SeaTac Airport on a case-by-case basis. There is an additional fee for both services. To ensure availability, please inquire about this option early, and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.

  • Yes, lots of our renters visiting the beautiful deserts of southern California fly into PSP to start their journey.

  • The Palm Springs Hub is a short 10-minute drive from the Palm Springs airport (PSP). This centrally located hub is near many attractions, including Joshua Tree National Park, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Salton Sea, and the Coachella Valley. Please tell your Adventure Coordinator as early as possible if you’d like a ride from the airport.

  • We facilitate one-way adventures between our two adventure hubs during the spring and fall. Please contact us with your plans. We'll make every effort to create a tailored solution.

Vehicle

  • Several vans in our fleet are equipped with pop-tops, allowing sleeping space for up to four , while others do not.

  • Weekenders feature more interior space as they lack a built-in sink or stovetop. In contrast, Full campers are equipped with built-in cabinetry, a sink, and a stovetop. For additional details about each van, please visit the reserve page.

  • No, but each van includes a cooler.

  • No, our vans do not come with toilets or built-in shower facilities.

  • We offer one dog-friendly rental van, subject to an additional cleaning fee. If you have a service animal, please contact us directly for assistance.

  • Yes, several of our vans have automatic transmissions. Substitutions do occur, so someone in your party should be able to drive a manual transmission.
