A PacWesty Weekend in Southern California

Day 1: Palm Springs Oasis

Begin your desert adventure by picking up the van at PacWesty Palm Springs. Drive to Indian Canyons and embark on a mid-day hike, soaking in the breathtaking natural scenery of over 2,500 adult palm trees lining the gorge.

While exploring Indian Canyons, bear in mind that this is a sacred cultural heritage site for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. Imagine the profound connection shared by the elders who have graced the same rocks and tread the same paths throughout generations.

Enjoy a hearty lunch al fresco in Palm Springs at the Farm or pick up snacks for a leisurely picnic lunch within the ancient Indian Canyons, continuing your exploration and immersing yourself in the shadows of the low desert palms.

Conclude your day with a rejuvenating soak in the mineral spas at Sam's Family Spa & Hot Water Resort. Book a campsite to enjoy unrestricted access to mineral spas, a swimming pool, a sauna, and various on-site amenities, all set against a serene desert backdrop.

Day 2: Joshua Tree Bound

Drive towards Joshua Tree National Park, and admire the transforming landscape as you make your way to the high desert. Grab a delicious lunch or pastry at Luna Sourdough that fuels your journey.

Discover unique and culturally rich goods at Mojave Flea Trading Post, an eclectic collection showcasing the artistry of the high desert. As you proceed towards the park entrance, make additional quick stops at must-see establishments like Joshua Tree Coffee, Sun of the Desert, and The Station, ensuring a delightful journey through the distinctive offerings of the high desert culture.

Immerse yourself in the Joshua Tree National Park experience by visiting iconic spots like Skull Rock or Arch Rock. Hike through the Lost Horse Trail, Boy Scout Trail or find your own offbeat adventure within the 795,200 acre park.

As night falls in the National Park, your PacWesty van becomes the ultimate home base, with all the creature comforts you’ll need to settle in for your night in the high desert. Start by popping up the van’s tent for added headroom and access to the upper bed. Set up your bed with the cozy bedding materials provided (see the full kit here). Unpack your camp chairs, unroll your awning and build a campfire before you kick back and gaze at the starlit sky.
